This role on a daily basis involves learning how to estimate construction works from drawings and also site visits to gain key knowledge to enhance our ability of estimating and general knowledge of the construction industry. We are working on very large projects and supported by mentors throughout the business. We are also working with our tutor to do online learning of our role, this is both face to face and online through calls and meetings.
I have learned many new skills so far and gained vital knowledge to help me in the future as i get more experienced at my role. I have also developed existing maths skills this has made me more confident in them.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme so far, it is a good blend of allowing us sufficient time to learn as well as giving us the chance to take on some responsibility when we feel confident to do so. The educational aspect is also at a good pace that allows us to complete work on time and receive feedback to complete it at the highest standard.
The programme is well structured and allows us to plan ahead by letting us see the whole scope of what is to come. It is also flexible so we can switch parts around to what we believe might best suit our needs as that time.
We feel very supported by our employer. We are given priority when the educational side needs completing as well as, the work we are doing for them we are regularly supported by mentors within the company to guide us. We feel supported enough to not feel like we cannot make mistakes and feel comfortable enough to do so.
We receive lots of support from the training provider we have regular meetings and learning sessions, and we also know we can contact them whenever we feel we need guidance and this will be prompt.
Our qualification works hand in hand with our role and allows us to see different points of view and learning styles, our training provider is keen to tailor our learning as much as they can to our role as to give us the most help and make us feel most comfortable.
There are many professional networking events that can be attended as well as social activities. This makes us feel part of the team and valued in the company.
