  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working on a variety of different projects across the airports from queue times and security performance to cargo flights. These tasks typically involve the use of at least one of SQL and Power BI. My apprenticeship supports me in all of these tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship is enjoyable as all of the information I learn is relevant to my role and it is nice to have the combination of both structured classroom education as well as more ad-hoc learning on the job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have a clear outline of what is expected of me in my role and in my apprenticeship as well. At the start of the apprenticeship I was given a full road-map of what it will involve.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am giving a lot of support from my employer as I am able to dedicate on average 1 day a week to my apprenticeship. My line manager has completed the same apprenticeship so knows what is required and is able to support me in this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider gives a lot of support as I have a dedicated coach who I can reach out to at any time for help as well as an instructor who gives lessons once per week in which I can ask questions. There are also optional Q&A sessions for further support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it will help a lot. At the moment we are mostly covering the basics and some of the content is not new to me but I know that later on it will be more challenging and I will get to apply some cool techniques to projects in my role which I am looking forward to.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My work does organise social activities and networking events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend MAG Airports to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Working at an airport is great as there are so many different projects to get involved in and you get to spend time surrounded by people travelling and aeroplanes. The variety of projects means I am always learning new things, both related to my role and general airport/aviation things. The people at MAG are also great and it is an enjoyable place to work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MAG Airports?
  • Give a lot of thought to why you want to work for MAG and also read the job description carefully to look for the skills that they require for the job. Think about how you can demonstrate those skills and give clear examples if you make it to the interview stage.
