On a daily basis I communicate with our clients, file documents and help with the general upkeep of the office. I monitor our compliance, and make sure we are working effectively under GDPR regulations. This includes sending out documentation to be signed, requesting I.D. and performing checks on clients to keep up with Anti-Money Laundering Regulations. I also assist with admin work within the Tax department by updating spreadsheets, emailing clients regarding payments, and submitting completed tax returns to HMRC. Projects I have been responsible for include: setting up networking and charity events, attending careers fairs, and implementing a new onboarding software for our business to use to send out documentation to clients.
I had a general understanding of how to use most Office 365 products but working at HB Accountants has allowed me to understand how to use Excel, Outlook, and Word more efficiently. I have been able to build my confidence by talking to clients, going to networking events, and helping with careers fairs and charity events.
I am glad to have been able to do my apprenticeship at HB Accountants where they take part and host events, and are very involved with the community. I have not only learnt the skills I needed to pass my exam and work in administration but I have learnt far more being exposed to our different departments (tax, accounts, payroll) and attending events on behalf of my business.
During my first six months at HB accountants, it was very hands-on with learning new tasks and how to operate our software/technology. After this, I was given more repsonsibility and trust with picking up tasks by myself and continuing my learning when needed. I still continue to watch training courses and learn form my colleagues every day, but I do not have to be shadowed now which proves I have had good training - this also allows my colleagues to continue with their work freely.
I work in a small business of around 18 people in an open office, so it is very easy for me to ask questions and find support when needed. I have always been told that if I am interested in a certain topic or task that my employer is more than happy to provide further informaiton or to let me work on it more often.
I do not hear from City & Guilds themselves, but I do receive lots of support and guidance from my assessor at Hertford Regional College. I have frequent Teams calls and in-person observations where I recieve feedback to work on. I have had lots of preparation help with my End Point Assessment which is my final exam.
(Unsure on what this question means)
HB Accountants hosts charity events, fundraising events, and networking events. We have organised local litter picking and a work experience cohort programme to allow students ot attend multiple businesses in their allocated work experience week. I have attended the regional and national apprenticeship awards where we won East Of England's Apprenticeship Employer Of The Year 2024. We also organise social events for our team, and go on a summer and christmas work outing.

HB Accountants is a great business environment to work in. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, and willing to assist you in expanding your skills and moving towards your ideal career.
If you are willing to put the hard work into your office tasks and your exams/college work then the rest will come easy - if you are a friendly, outgoing person you will fit in amazingly. HB Accountants is a great training firm for accountancy and business administration, the proof is in all the previous successful apprentices!
