  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During the apprenticeship you get to experience three engineering departments that work together. Spending 6 months within each, to work with different equipment and personnel.

  • Day to day there are easily new skills being developed from fitting a new light on the taxiway or learning how a door control panel works.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Most days are enjoyable with always something to do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The college could be more organised as 50 percent of the time the college teachers are not in or unaware they are teaching us. however the airport has a more structured plan to where you will be working.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • If i never need something or question to be asked they will always help as long as you ask.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • can be difficult sometimes to get help from the college as they are typically busy but most of the time i go to my employer than training provider

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The work at college definitely helps on the theory side of what happens on the job, however most of the practical skill are improved at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, i am involved with DofE course, while opportunities are still around to volunteer in the surrounding areas of Stansted.

  • 9a. Would you recommend MAG Airports to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The amount of experience they offer while given you the level of qualification you are hoping to achieve is a good reason to join the apprenticeship, and the pay is above appropriate for an apprenticship.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MAG Airports?
  • Get involved with it as much as possible and it's a job that not many people in the world do so it is specialist work and can be taken to different airports across the world.
