During the apprenticeship you get to experience three engineering departments that work together. Spending 6 months within each, to work with different equipment and personnel.
Day to day there are easily new skills being developed from fitting a new light on the taxiway or learning how a door control panel works.
Most days are enjoyable with always something to do.
The college could be more organised as 50 percent of the time the college teachers are not in or unaware they are teaching us. however the airport has a more structured plan to where you will be working.
If i never need something or question to be asked they will always help as long as you ask.
can be difficult sometimes to get help from the college as they are typically busy but most of the time i go to my employer than training provider
The work at college definitely helps on the theory side of what happens on the job, however most of the practical skill are improved at work.
Yes, i am involved with DofE course, while opportunities are still around to volunteer in the surrounding areas of Stansted.
Yes
The amount of experience they offer while given you the level of qualification you are hoping to achieve is a good reason to join the apprenticeship, and the pay is above appropriate for an apprenticship.
Get involved with it as much as possible and it's a job that not many people in the world do so it is specialist work and can be taken to different airports across the world.
