I manage shifts within a care home, engage in MDT meetings, liase with GPs and other professionals, care plan updates, administration of medication. Health observations. Contact with families and next of kins, do capacity assessments, fall champion, provide insulin, provide supervisions for staff, provide wound care
I know how to find evidence based practices, finding and assessing information with CASP tools and know what databases have gold standard information and frameworks, I learnt new transferable skills. Undertook experience in different areas of care, understand about peoples rights, capacity, know how to make decisions and best interest decisions
I enjoyed my programme, I think it could of been improved with some better lesson planning. Occasionally we did the same PowerPoint presentation learning a couple of times or ended up in the wrong room When there were changes to the leader giving the lesson that day. I enjoyed working with people from different areas of care to have different insights into the learning
Mostly organised but sometimes we repeated PowerPoint learning without the tutor realising we had already covered the information
I have thorough support from my employer and the chance to further my skills and experience
I had multiple nurses who had completed courses which were able to answer questions and provide guidance when required
I have more confidence in my skills, decision making and ability to lead in my role. I have more knowledge to apply
We are planning to try team building activities under our new management
Yes
Risedale has many learning pathways for different levels of learning, they provide lots of skills carousel training oppurtunities and different apprenticeships. University of cumbria has a lot of different pathways and additional learning to engage in during and after your course
To risedale it would be to know what area of care you'd like to work in as each home specialises In different aspects of care. For the course at cumbria University I would say planning your time effectively to complete assessments and provide time to proof read
