My job role includes supporting individuals with their care, delivering high quality, person-centered care within a safe organization and environment. I am currently a trainee Assistant Practitioner. I liaise with members of the individuals MDT, obtain and send samples (eg, urine, stool, blood), I liaise with family members.
I have expanded my knowledge and learnt new skills in delivering high quality unbiased care whilst withholding judgement. I have gained further knowledge surrounding legislations, the codes of conduct, national guidelines and evidence based approaches. I have developed my academic writing skills.
I am eager to learn surrounding the topic and I fully enjoy my program. My tutors deliver excellent engaging lectures which lead you to want to conduct further research independently.
My program is structured well and well organized, the tutors delivering the module allow good time for breaks, discussions and complete a schedule which is adhered to, therefore everyone is aware of what to do and when to do it.
My employer is extremely supportive within the progression of my career, they provide 1:1 support, workplace mentors, all relevant training and equipment required. They promote and encourage as well as coach and support individuals to progress within their future careers.
My training provider provides me with incredible support, from reviewing my assignments (500 words maximum), to an inclusive and supportive SPLD team, they have well knowledged lecturers that provide support and access to relevant literature and guidelines.
I believe my course aids the delivery of person centred, high quality care. I believe this is achieved by gaining further knowledge and experience through work placements.
My workplace hosts lots of events for relatives, families and staff to get involved, such as discos, animal visits (including donkeys), flower arrangements, bingo, performers and plays. We also have regular visits from school children which residents particularly enjoy.
