I work in the Troncmaster Services Team at Buzzacott. In my day to day work, I look after my own client portfolio, as well deal with any new client engagements.
I have developed my professional language. As a school leaver I have had very little exposure to professional writing, which was a weakness of mine when starting. Since then, I have been given the opportunities to develop my language to ensure my emails to clients are professional.
I enjoy my programme everyday. For me, choosing to get an apprenticeship at Buzzacott has really helped me to develop as an individual, which I don't imagine could've happened had I gone to University. I have been given exposure to the professional world, an opportunity I am very grateful for.
My programme is very organised which enables my to balance my work, study and social life. I have been provided all my dates for my time at college and exams. This allows me to let my manager and team know when I will be available and if it is suitable for me to be involved in a project. It has also helped me to ensure that I can book holidays with confidence knowing I will be available for these dates.
I receive amazing support from my employer. Any time I have had a query with regards to my apprenticeship I have been able to contact our HR team who are able to give me guidance on what steps need to be taken so that I resolve any issue. Furthermore, I have joined our student forum which meets every couple of months, and gives us trainees an opportunity to voice any concerns us ourselves or our teams have to our HR team who deal with these issues directly with the training provider.
I receive great support from my training provider through tuition and online materials to ensure I have all the information for each exam. The tutors are also very engaging to help us learn the material for the exams.
I have learn different things about rules that professional accountants have to abide by to ensure that we don't make any mistakes in our day to day job that may put my employer or I at risk.
There are many extra curricular activities that are available to me at my work. These are trainee events organised by the trainee social committee for social events. I have gotten involved with the football network at my work which meet once or twice a month to play together for fitness and social reasons. I have also joined the trainee committee to help myself as well as my peers to ensure we have the best support we can get during our professional qualifications.
Yes
I would and have recommended Buzzacott to my friends and others looking for apprenticeships as I believe that as a firm, they believe in their trainees. I have heard from people at different firms that they feel like they feel undervalued or appreciated in their apprenticeships. However, at Buzzacott I have never felt this way. I have always been supported in different situations where I have needed it. Furthermore, I have been given many opportunities to gain exposure to meetings and how to deal with different situations when they arise.
I would tell others to ensure they are professional when coming to interviews and be confident. Everyone at the firm is welcoming and wants you to do well. If you present yourself in the best manor possible, you will make an impression on your interviewer. They will appreciate this and take note of it. This is because there are skills they can teach but you cannot teach a personality.
