I'm a third year apprentice, out on placement day to day. I spend my time working with the maintenance associates on site in order to what it is that they do so that I can hope to do it when I finish my apprenticeship. There is also paperwork to complete along side this which allows for me to show what it is that I do day to day and what I am learning.
I have advanced many different skill by doing this job. Most of them practical, but others that can be used else where. Such as teamwork, independence and fault finding abilities.
I have really enjoyed the program. There is always something new to learn you just have to ask, and there is a lot of variety due to different jobs being completed day to day and the placements that you do throughout.
I believe that it is very well organised as I know what I am doing ahead of time and I never feel lost.
Any support I ask for I will receive, you just have to ask.
Any support I ask for I will receive, you just have to ask.
It has taught me skills that allow me to work day to day and complete jobs that I did not think I would need.
There is a news letter and a Charity team for apprentices to get readily involved in.
Yes
They are very inclusive and they will support you in what you want to do. Also, it allows you to understand what it is like to work for a larger company. We get the opportunity to train for a good amount of time side by side with the people that we will be working with in the future.
It can sometimes feel overwhelming but all of the work you receive, you do get time to complete while you are at work, especially in your first year. Make sure to try your hardest and put the maximum effort in, in order to get the most out of it, but also because you may need to use your work in the future.
