  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Digital Design Apprentice, I specialise in designing interactive PDFs, infographics, video editing, and microsites on a day-to-day basis, for use in client pitches to help win work for the business. Whilst also completing the work required for my degree in Digital Design further developing my skills and expertise in the field.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills during my apprenticeship including the ability to use various software, such as InDesign, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Premier Pro and After Effects, contributing to my development as a designer. Not only have I developed the skills required to create bespoke, designed graphics but I've also learnt how to communicate clearly and professionally as well as considerably improving my organisation and time management skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme, it has enabled me to develop so many new skills and challenge my abilities, through countless opportunities to get involved in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As I am only the second cohort to go through this programme, some changes have been made to the curriculum based on feedback from the first year of students. While there has been some minor disorganisation, nothing has been significant enough to disrupt or interfere with my degree.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer as I have regular catch ups about my course with both my manager and course tutor as well as one-to-ones on my overall development in work and as a designer.

  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider as they are always available to contact if you need extra support or for someone to review your work and provide constructive feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I'm working for helps me to perform better in my role as it has introduced the variety of Adobe software and how to use it, which is necessary for my role, essentially teaching me how to do the work required for my role.

  • There are a variety of sports teams and committees to get involved in within my company across all industries and sectors.
