My day to day role includes working with my manager, and engineers to carry out assessments for Subcontractor payments, and quotations they have submitted of compensation events. I also attend site visits when possible to gain experience.
I have learned a range of new skills in the past year I have been on the apprenticeship, such as cost control, contract management, health and safety, and financial reporting.
I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship and would recommend it to anyone interested in joining the construction industry and would advise that people consider working in construction if they haven't already.
The apprenticeship is very well structured. The frequent meetings with tutors in particular to work on the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours, means that I am consistently working on my learning as well as my day job which is highly beneficial.
I personally receive a great deal of support from my manager, keeping regular contact and ensuring my progress is always on track.
As previously stated, the support from the training provider whilst on site is exceptional, with frequent meetings throughout the year to keep regular contact and to make sure everything is progressing well on site and in my studies.
The skills I have learned through my training provider and the requirements of progress tracking has definitely benefitted me in my role, and has allowed me to understand the areas in which I have developed and areas which could be further developed.
I have recently joined the work football 5 a side team, and I would like to get involved in the professional networking events my company offers.

BAM is a great company who cares for their employees, and the apprenticeship in particular is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience whilst working towards a degree, which is highly valued. The training provider BAM have partnered with are also exceptional at providing support to help you grow.
When applying to the company just be yourself, and don't be afraid to show off your achievements. Try to gain experience within the industry you are applying to prior to the interview so you can show your knowledge and have an understanding of what you enjoy about the role.
