  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At the moment, recently and regarding the past few months, I have been typically working from home, starting at 08:00, finishing at 16:00 and within the sector of Industry Performance, specifically under the team, Electric Settlements. I worked the Invalid Reads Spreadsheet, looking at accounts with their meters, specifically their readings, ensuring and checking that everything is at it should be, working well, no problems, but flagging them when necessary. I then moved onto Further Investigations where it would be similar work but going more in-depth into looking into and fixing all of the problems, potentially even more, that I had flagged whilst working my previous pot. I unfortunately though do not feel I was able to really get too much into this before I was pulled onto another, new responsibility, of helping out on the phone lines specifically regarding the RTS or Radio Tele Switch accounts, more specifically trying to get them off of the current, soon to be faulty, meters, and instead onto the new Smart meters.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In terms of Learning New Skills, I feel that I have, even if not necessarily any new software or tools, certainly regarding new, different ways of looking at accounts and their meters, what to look for, how to identify current or soon to be issues. In terms of Developing Upon Existing Skills, I feel that I have, especially regarding my skills when on the phones, both with the general security, ensuring no sensitive information is leaked, and regarding overall customer service and satisfaction, ensuring a customer has their main query answered, issue solved, to the best quality possible, along with potentially anything else.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • For the most part, speaking overall as of this moment, I feel I have enjoyed this programme decently. There's been some shakiness, but of which has been ultimately overcame. I got this apprenticeship whilst just looking for a job but then saw it as an opportunity, and arguably better than if I did just apply for and get the actual job just from the start, like the other people I had my training with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It had some rough patches in the beginning periodically I think, but now especially it has very much improved and that isn't to say that it was at all in anyway bad, just not necassarily as good as it is now or could have been.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A comfortable amount, quite a bit, especially regarding probably any other job out there and especially regarding any other job that I have had previously.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A comfortable amount, a fair bit, although I do feel it could have been more and I could have utilised it better.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I, am not quite sure, to be completely honest, at this very moment. I seem to go back and forth on this periodically. I don't know and I don't think my qualification will be too useful for me with any job, but the experience, of working within this business, the departments and types of work. Potentially a different story.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I believe so, yes, some often, some less so, but still, fairly common, especially if you're eager or looking. Yes.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Oh, very much so, yes. My family used to work for Core before Next was a thing. They've treated me very quite well especially in comparison to any of my previous jobs. Their values and goals align with me and mine, at least in ways and to an extent.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • If your values and goals align in anyway to any extent, mention it, elaborate on it.
