  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have just started at Channel 4 as a picture editor apprentice. My role involves editing images and creating crops for Channel 4 platform. I am also on a content creative apprenticeship where I learn about the industry from Bauer Academy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed and expanding on my adobe creative suite skills in a lot more detail. Learning about the office environment coming from a retail background was really fun. Being able to collaborate with expansive teams across channel 4 has been extremely fun and a big learning curve.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme, I have only been in my apprenticeship for a month but I've never had a boring day with my team. There are endless opportunities to learn and grow both inside and outside of my team and I have amazing support from the staff.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is structured so that I have the time to both concentrate on my work as well as having a day in the week to focus on my studies which works really well for me personally. I feel I have enough time to get everything done during the week.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have had endless support from my employer since starting at Channel 4, everyone wants you to do well and there is never a silly question.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider offers a lot of online support, all of my questions, emails and messages have been answered. Lots of resources are provided during workshops for us the digest in our own time if we need which I personally find super useful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have only been studying for a month, so far my qualification has been able to contextualise my role but not help me specifically perform better. It does promote collaboration between apprentices which I have enjoyed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in. A small list I've heard of is running club, knit & sew, end of week events, networking events and I'm sure there are many more that I haven't discovered yet.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Channel 4 to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It's an incredibly supportive environment, something I haven't experienced before. Channel 4 thrive on learning and development and that is something I seek out in a business/employer.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Channel 4?
  • It's important to be yourself, show off your creative side. No idea is too big or silly.
