  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves the technical processing tasks of a broker and client executive. Examples include drafting MRC slips, collating insurer terms, quoting to the Client, confirming cover to the Client, evidencing cover to the Client and processing any mid-term adjustments (endorsements).

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt all about the commercial PI insurance industry. I've also learnt about policy wordings and how this insurance is transformed into a Market Reform Contract slip. Insurer appetite trends is something I have also been exposed to, alongside regulatory reforms that change the way in which we place insurance with Clients

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my programme. I enjoy the apprenticeship side as it ties in well with the job role. I also love my wider team, direct team and day to day activities. It is very rare I do not enjoy something I am doing at work or to do with my programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised. I catch up with my skills coach every other month and I am given challenging yet realistic goals to meet each time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Amply support. I receive 20% OJT training meaning I can take one day off a week. I also receive coursework support and additional sessions to help fill any knowledge gaps. For exams, I get the day before and day off.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Loads of support. I get catch ups with my skill coach, access to Empower Development and training sessions delivered by a qualified professional.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well. My qualification is around the London insurance market, and I am based right opposite Lloyd's. M81 is insurance broking, which is effectively my role, and M05 Law touched upon all the regulatory considerations I should have.

  • This company has given me the most genuine support when completing my apprenticeship. I entered the insurance world with 0 knowledge whatsoever and I have come so far thanks to my employer and programme.
