  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently, I’m training to become a software developer with a focus on the financial services industry. Throughout the year, our managers have given us various challenges to tackle. We’re learning key skills such as Java, JUnit testing, Git, Quarkus, Maven, and more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I started this apprenticeship with very limited knowledge in the tech industry but even after 6 short months I feel like I have came so far.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • With constant challenges being published by our managers and help there if we need it the apprenticeship has been managed so well, Unlike my previous job I love enjoy coming to work !

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Before we joined the first year was all planned out for us, obviously the plan hasn't gone quite perfectly but with a bunch of different challenge being placed and the core learning being he same it has been great.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have never been shut down when asking a question, in fact I'm sure my colleagues enjoy a work related chat. Everyone is approachable and iI feel like part of a team.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Cardiff met have been okay, communication has been mediocre but the work and projects have been fun and I feel like they are very beneficial in my learning.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have only completed 1 term but the work so far has been very relevant and helped me in my day to day job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I would like to join some sport events but I haven't seen any as of yet, we have had the hackathon and several team networking events which has been great.
