  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We as administrators essentially process and administrate everything to do with pensions in a hands on manner, which can be calculating and applying benefits, processing new pensioners and deaths, and communicating with members themselves

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained lots of knowledge on pensions, of which I did not realise how important they are until now. I have also gained computer skills and being able to communicate with members, colleagues and external entities such as solicitors in a formal manner

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy what I do, the work is interesting and varied and I have a good group of colleagues and apprentices to talk to

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is lots of information to learn but the apprenticeship is well structured

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get lots of support from our employers as we get study leave to prepare for exams, and financial rewards for passing them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again, we get lots of support from the growth company as we can interact with them when needed, and will give us leeway if reasonable. For example, i was off sick for 2 days last week and they let me have an extra 2 days to do an assignment

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well as we learn KSBs (Knowledge, skills and behaviours) which are integral to my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes - I want to participate in the football tournament when it comes up

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barnett Waddingham to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I already have - it is a good place to work with friendly people, good pay for an apprenticeship and the chance to go to other offices and network with other apprentices. I get on with everyone here


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barnett Waddingham?
  • Make sure to be engaged and seem enthusiastic, and be willing to learn. Always answer questions
