My role involves me to manage subcontractors on a day to day basis- processing payments, contracts, forecasting, budgeting. Focusing on making sure our project is within budget.
I have developed many new skills including - contract writing, forecasting techniques, working excel. I have developed many old skills such as communication skills this included a speaking to people in person over the phone and on email
I have throughly enjoyed the course thus far, particularly the split between college and being on site I have gained a lot of knowledge from being on site which I have been able to use in my assignments.
It is structured well I am aware what I am needing to complete at different stage - there can be an aspect where BAM can have more of an input and direct contact with the apprentices.
Not as much as I’d hoped - but they do have regular check ups while at college and be in contact with the college to see our progress
I receive a lot of help and support while completing my course - my training provider helps a lot in helping me move through college and the apprenticeship
I have used the knowledge that I have learnt to apply in my day to day work, as it helps with contracting and forecasting
Yes there are always networking events available- but may be better if they were more catered to apprentices
Yes
It has helped me grow as an individual and allowed me to learn so much more and have loved every step. It has been a joy to work with BAM
Be yourself and have the attitude to want to try new things - it’s a learning curve and you only get better when you don’t understand.
