I work in audit and work with privately owned businesses. This involves auditing from the planning, fieldwork and completion stage of an audit.
Yes, I'd say I have learnt many new skills, particularly my technical skills in terms of my audit and accounting knowledge as well as my excel skills. In terms of developing existing skills, my communication and proactivity skills have improved significantly.
I significantly enjoy my programme. Although it can be quite challenging and pressure-filled some days, I do enjoy the challenge and I believe the role and type of work is suited to me and my skillset.
I'd say that the programme is quite well structured. My exams have been all within good time. The only thing I would change would be the skills and behaviours essays required by BPP for us to complete. Being given time from work to complete this would be ideal.
I do receive quite a lot of support from my employer, especially from my line manager and early careers. However, in terms of the actual work, I would prefer if there was more support offered.
I have received quite a lot of support during the in-person college sessions and have found them particularly helpful. However, for the home learning courses, it would be helpful if there were some exam walkthroughs and more exam guidance offered.
I feel as though my qualification has helped me build the background knowledge behind why I do the work I do as well as helping form the bigger picture of the business and their accounts in my mind.
There have been quite a few activities to be involved with, such as volunteering opportunities with schools and hospitals and local volunteering events such as LetsFeedBrum. As well as this, I have also partook in a painting class after work as well as ping pong.
Yes
They are an incredibly friendly and inclusive company that provide you with support and offer guidance and help. Whilst working at Forvis Mazars, I have learnt and developed so much, with both my soft skills and my technical skills.
The advice I would give would be to be yourself throughout the application process. I'd say to remain confident and willing to learn and to do your research on the type of company Forvis Mazars is, the values which they embody and see whether they align with your own personal values. Coming into Forvis Mazars, you should aim for pro activity, responsibility and teamwork.
