My role is IT Disaster Recovery Coordinator working on one of the DXC UK Secure Accounts. The whole premise of the role is to coordinate arrangements to mitigate disaster and data loss by testing various infrastructure and systems in order to simulate a disaster and prove that it is resilient.
I have learned lots of skills such as Project Management, Resource allocation, data analytics, change management, service now and more. DXC provides internal and external training fully funded such as aws cloud practitioner certification or APM certification.
I enjoy the academic program immensely as there is lots of opportunities to network with peers through their knowledge sharing sessions. There are many young people to collaborate with.
My data technician program will kaplan is very well structured, training is in blocks and they where coupled up quite closely together so we can quickly pick up a range of skills and then apply them to our role which gives us lots of time to focus on the job and build our portfolio by working on projects.
I receive a lot of support from my employer as I have regular 1-1s with my manager who supports with everything and helps me with everything.
Kaplan are very supportive and my talent coach has regular meetings with me and helps me a ton.
