  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a finance operations apprentice, my role is to assist with the processing of transactions between the company and our clients. I also assist with making sure our records are up-to-date in our accounting software by liaising with our clients for payment, invoicing clients, and making sure our suppliers are paid.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeship I have been able to develop my soft skills significantly, in particular my communication skills. My communication skills have improved as I have had the chance to speak to a wide range of professionals, both internally and externally, which has helped me to develop my confidence in a corporate setting. I have also been able to develop my hard skills by taking on new tasks regularly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme so far as I have had the chance to meet people from a range of backgrounds and learn about the different paths they took in their career. I have also enjoyed taking part in activities with my colleagues, such as playing for our office's 5-a-side team.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme follows a broad structure with room for change when needed which allows me to take on different challenges at a time that suits both me and the team I am working with. This has helped me with my course work and has also put me in a position where I can work towards development in areas that suit me best.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received extensive support from my colleagues/employer both in my coursework and with my daily tasks. Addleshaw Goddard has allowed me to build a strong network with experienced professionals in my field who are always happy to answer any questions, whether they are to do with my coursework or my standard workload.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider, First Intuition, has offered excellent support throughout my apprentice by offering regular check-ins, extensive resources, and great teaching. For me, the online resources provided have been great for helping my understanding and confidence when taking exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has helped me to contextualise the tasks I do on a daily basis and understand the motivation behind them. I have been able to apply the knowledge I have gained from studying to my tasks which helps me to understand my role and tasks beyond the surface level as it helps me to recognise the broad effect of my daily tasks and how they influence other stakeholders within the business.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Addleshaw Goddard has many ways of getting involved which include networking events, social events, sports teams, and charity. I have enjoyed taking part in the sports team and social events as they have allowed me to meet people from different sectors of the business and understand their roles more in depth.

  • I would recommend Addleshaw Goddard to a friend as I believe the company has a positive and supportive culture, and there are many opportunities to develop professionally. In my time at Addleshaw Goddard I have been able to speak to people of many different levels and departments, from which I have learnt a lot about myself and the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Addleshaw Goddard?
  • I believe that to be successful in applying to Addleshaw Goddard it is important to demonstrate your passion and interest for the industry and in the company itself. This is integral to standing out in your application and getting this across to your interviewers confidently and clearly can set you apart from the rest.
