I am in the project management office in the Emergency Services Network. I help look over the governance of the programme along with ensuring the processes run smoothly and supporting with other activities. In my position I also look at continuous improvement, learning new tools which could be beneficial for the programme and looking into streamlining processes.
I have learnt many new skills including more technical skill such as PowerAutomate and using PowerApps. I have also been able to develop my stakeholder management skills and public speaking skills, contributing to meetings. There is also a skills programme offered internally to help you develop skills that you may not have and would like experience in in other areas outside of your direct team.
I have loved my programme since joining. I feel its a great way to get 'real life' experience in the industry while also gaining a reputable qualification. I have been given lots of support from my manager and from the people networks at BT since joining.
It's well orgainsed from the company's perspective however there has been a lack of consistency from the university. There has been contradictory advice as well as changes to assignment briefs after they have been initially shared. This has caused some confusing however I don't feel it has taken away from the overall enjoyment of the programme as a whole, has just cause unnecessary stress at time.
I receive a large amount of support from my employer. Particularly my manager and people in my team who are always willing to share additional guidance in my day-to-day work. I have also been given the opportunity to develop my skills further in different areas and am encouraged to do so by my employer. Putting me in contact with lots of new stakeholders in the company to learn more about potential roles here.
I don't believe we are offered sufficient and consistent support from the training provider. This is due both to there being new systems put in place as we were joining but also unclear guidance from the university.
I do not yet believe it has impacted my role to this point however I strongly feel it will in the future as we progress through the course.
There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved with, with options for everyone. There are sports teams, people networks, social events and insight events held frequently both in person at the offices and surrounding areas and virtually.
Yes
I have really enjoyed my time here since joining and there is a great community.
Get involved with everything you can! The more people you meet the more fun you will have. It's also great for expanding your network and opening new opportunities.
