Collaborating with my finance colleagues and cross-functional teams has helped me become more confident in liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Particularly when maintaining the SharePoint Fixed Asset System and raising capitalisation forms. One of the key areas of improvement has been my time management skills. Managing tasks, such as quarterly reconciliations for UK, Italy and Germany, along with completing AD-HOC tasks, has required me to prioritise work efficiently. I have learnt to balance urgent deadlines, such as the month-end close and VAT Returns, with other ongoing responsibilities. I have acquired Excel proficiency. Initially, my skills were basic, but I can now confidently use Excel for reconciliations, financial analysis, and maintaining key logs, improving efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, my technical knowledge has advance through both my studies and hands-on training, allowing me to apply financial concepts effectively in tasks like journals, trial balance and VAT Return.
I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy my role. I have the opportunity to work with a great team, where I have built strong professional relationships while also being able to connect on a personal level. The collaborative and supportive environment makes my work both engaging and rewarding. The apprenticeship programme has been highly beneficial in allowing me to consolidate my hands-on training with my studies, applying what I learn directly to my daily tasks. This practical experience has strengthened my understanding of financial processes and enhanced my confidence in my role. Overall, I find my work fulfilling and enjoy the continuous learning opportunities that come with it.
I find my apprenticeship programme to be well-organised and structured. In the first few months, I received thorough one to one training to familiarise myself with key processes and responsibilities. The training was tailored to my pace and confidence level, allowing me to progress comfortably while building my skills. I have one dedicated study day each week, giving me the time to focus on my studies. I also have regular meetings with my line manager, who oversees my professional development and is always available to provide support.
I receive a great deal of support from my employer. The training process was tailored to my pace and confidence level, ensuring that I had the time to develop a strong understanding of my responsibilities. I have regular meetings with my manager to discuss my workload, progress, and any concerns I may have, which helps me stay on track. Additionally, my colleagues are always willing to offer guidance whenever I need clarification, creating a highly supportive environment.
I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. I have a dedicated study day each week, which allows me to focus on my coursework without workplace distractions. Whenever I need extra guidance, my training provider is always available to offer support, whether through emails, one-to-one sessions, or additional resources. I have regular meetings with my tutor, where I can discuss my progress, ask questions, and receive feedback on my work.
My qualification has been highly beneficial in helping me perform better in my role. The knowledge gained through my studies provides me with a strong understanding of financial principles and processes, which I can directly apply to my daily tasks, such as reconciliations and month-end closing.. The combination of theoretical learning and hands-on experience has helped me develop my technical skills and confidence. For example, learning about financial reporting and controls in my studies has improved my ability to accurately complete journal entries and maintain the SharePoint Fixed Asset System.
Yes, there are several extra-curricular activities available at my workplace. For example, there are yoga sessions after work, which provide a great way to unwind and improve physical well-being. Additionally, I am involved in the Women’s Empowerment Network (WEN), which promotes networking and professional development for women in the workplace. One of the key initiatives is the EEEC, where employees participate in volunteering opportunities such as fixing up primary schools, collecting food for food banks, and donating toys for Christmas. These activities provide an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and work together with colleagues outside of the usual work environment.
