  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job requires me to fix and maintain plant (road rail plant diggers) but at the moment, because I haven't been there for long I have been doing more visual learning and helping with bits around the workshop and on the yard.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to attach assets to the diggers when they need to be moved, how to understand the paperwork on assets and machines, safe lifting procedures, safe and unsafe places to be when machines are operating around you, etc.

  • I enjoy it a lot but i know there's still more to come.

  • It is structured well. I am in college for majority of this first year but right now I'm at work.

  • I receive a lot of support.

  • I received a lot of support from my training provider too especially with course work where we are always pushed to seek extra help from tutor when needed.

  • My college helps me a fair bit with understanding small or big thing that I may encounter at work but, of course not everything I do at college I will encounter at work.

  • Balfour always pushes employees to network to build our portfolio which I'm grateful for.
