My role allows me to experience an array of different scenarios which allows me to better my health and safety knowledge within the workplace. Everyday presents a new and exciting challenge with memorable experiences.
Within my role I feel as though everyday I am developing my leadership and people skills which allows me to communicate issues and solutions effectively to my colleagues.
My program has some challenging areas, however there is also no two days the same creating an exciting place to work and content which can be used in all different situations.
There is not a health and safety apprenticeship within Scotland so at first the structure of the course was a little all over the place. Since, myself, my manager and my assessor have been working relentlessly to ensure the program is structured and can run as smoothly as possible.
Balfour Beatty have many different ways of supporting their apprentices. Whether it be from inspirational supervision, continual encouragement or even new and exciting opportunities there is always a form of support.
Ever since I began creating my portfolio with RHG I have found continual support throughout my studies. My assessor is keen to help in any way she can and keeps regular contact.
All issues addressed within the content are relevant to my workplace and job role. I have learnt an abundance of health and safety knowledge already and all of which is relevant and helpful to my job role.
I have been involved in several social networking events. This includes but is not limited to; Internal Health and Safety Conferences, Apprenticeship networking at the Scottish parliament, external conferences...

There is a role for everybody at Balfour Beatty, the long standing idea that Balfour Beatty is just a construction company is dated and most definitely not true. Your not just building buildings, your creating futures.
Do your research, be willing to do the minimal jobs (grabbing coffee, creating signage), always be willing to learn and enjoy it.
