  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a second-year apprentice at CBRE. Last year, I gained valuable experience working with the Industrial and Logistics team, and I am currently contributing to the Business Rates team. My role involves assisting with day-to-day tasks, including drafting reports and appeals. Additionally, I hold a key responsibility within the Next Gen cohort, where I ensure the planning and execution of events aimed at enhancing and developing the skill sets of graduates and apprentices.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Over the past two years, I have acquired a wealth of knowledge and honed essential skills such as communication, negotiation, and organization. I have significantly developed these abilities by expanding my internal, external, and online networks. Shadowing team members has provided invaluable insights, and taking on responsibilities has further enhanced my skill set. Notably, I have successfully planned events with over 100 attendees and organized visits for schools to our office.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love being an apprentice. The university route wasn't for me, as I thrive in a structured, hands-on learning environment rather than studying from textbooks. Meeting like-minded individuals and having my studies directly linked to my job makes assessments and fast-track learning much more manageable and enjoyable.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • At CBRE, we receive comprehensive study support for our APC process, including the option to take study leave when needed. This ensures we are well-prepared and can focus on our professional development. For our studies at UCEM, we benefit from dedicated support through an Apprenticeship Outcome Officer (AOO), who serves as a point of contact for all apprenticeship-related matters.
