The role varies on a day to day basis. The initial part of the day is attending a morning meeting where I am given my responsibilities for the day. These task vary from PLC work, welding and fabricating, planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, and many more. At the beginning of each placement you are tasked with objectives to complete and every day you systematically work through them.
I have developed several skills that I previously had and have had the opportunity to gain experience in many more. Especially PLC skills.
Overall i enjoy the program and it offers many learning opportunities.
Structure could be improved slightly and with a large intake of new apprentices i could see the structure becoming more of an issue.
There is more than enough support from the management team and they are always on hand to assist.
I only attend the college once a week however the support is enough for me to complete my objectives. The NVQ assessor is absolutely brilliant and is only a phone call away.
The first year was beneficial to gain new skills however the placements are far more equipped to teach new skills. The BTEC doesn't always seem relevant
yes many activities from school events to social events
Yes
I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship so far. The management team are fantastic and are readily available. The NVQ assessor can not help you enough. The work is enjoyable providing you fully integrate yourself into the teams.
Follow the core values of the BMW group Responsibility, appreciation, trust, transparency and openness. Be eager to learn and fully immerse yourself into the job role.
