A typical day generally involved assisting pipe fitters or completing works independently with assistance if needed. Time to time in required to do remedial work and making good to the fabric of the building and being on hand to collect deliveries.
I’m continually developing existing skills and try to learn something new every day.
The team I work with make it very easy to enjoy this programme. I’ve also been allowed to have some freedom without being monitored.
I haven’t noticed any structure during my time on site but during College I’m aware of the curriculum and exams we are working towards.
They are on hand if I need help with anything but generally allow me space to complete work independently.
I get excellent support from my training provider and find them very helpful and approachable.
I think it’s very important because it allows you to practice tasks and gain confidence. If I didn’t have my training providers coaching then I wouldn’t feel as competent to do my job.
Yes I’m aware of trade competitions that go on throughout the year a 5 -a-side football team and organised days out for apprentices.
Yes
They are very helpful and listen to any suggestions you want to put forward. I feel part of the community at ESG as everyone is friendly and welcoming.
Have a good understanding of what the company does and why you want to work there. Also an interest in maths and science is helpful for passing the first stage of the assessment.
