  • I am a DevOps Engineer working around solutions, automation, and cloud infrastructure. My day-to-day involves managing systems, optimising workflows, and improving deployment processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.I work with tools like Terraform, Jenkins, and OpenShift to automate and streamline operations. My focus is on building scalable solutions, enhancing system performance, and ensuring smooth deployments in cloud environments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my skills further in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and automation. I have gained more hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and improved my ability to manage OpenShift clusters on Oracle Cloud. Additionally, I have strengthened my knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, enhancing deployment efficiency. I have also refined my problem-solving skills by working on real-world solutions and optimising system performance. Furthermore, my exposure to consultancy work has improved my ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to different stakeholders.

  • I really enjoy my degree apprenticeship as it gives me the perfect mix of hands-on experience and academic learning. It’s great to be part of a leading IT consultancy, working on real projects while developing my technical and professional skills. The programme has helped me build expertise in Cloud, and automation, while also improving my ability to work with clients and deliver solutions. I love collaborating with experienced professionals, learning from them, and applying new knowledge in a real-world setting.

  • I would highly recommend the degree apprenticeship programme as it’s extremely well-structured and organised. With four days of work and one day dedicated to university study, it offers the perfect balance of hands-on experience and academic learning. The support I’ve received has been outstanding – my task manager, foundation manager, and team are always there to support me, ensuring I stay on top of both work and studies. The regular check-ins and clear learning pathways keep me focused and motivated, and the resources provided make it easy to succeed.

  • I receive loads of support from IBM, which makes a huge difference in my development. We have great learning opportunities, including access to resources and training that help me grow in my role. Regular check-ins with my managers ensure I stay on track and have the guidance I need to succeed. On top of that, my employer covers the cost of exams, which is a fantastic benefit. The level of support provided really helps me excel and continue to build my skills.

  • I receive great support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. I’m given dedicated time to focus on my studies, which really helps with balancing work and learning. Additionally, I have access to resources like cloud platforms and providers, and free courses on platforms like Udemy to enhance my knowledge. The best part is having the opportunity to reach out to professionals at IBM for help, who are always willing to provide guidance and support. This level of support really empowers me to succeed and advance in my qualifications.

  • I feel that my qualification really helps me perform better in my role. The knowledge I gain from university directly relates to the work I do in IT consultancy, from cloud technologies to best practices in IT. The theoretical learning gives me a strong foundation, while the practical skills I develop through the apprenticeship help me apply what I’ve learned in real-world scenarios. This combination of academic knowledge and hands-on experience allows me to contribute more effectively to my team and deliver better solutions to clients.

  • There are loads of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work. There are various events held both in-office and remotely, which offer great opportunities for apprentices and early professionals to connect and learn. These events include fun and engaging activities that help build a strong sense of community, especially in a war environment. There are also plenty of opportunities to network, share experiences, and develop both professionally and personally through different social and skill-building activities. It’s a fantastic way to get involved and expand your network within the company.
