Lots of quality management and process improvement tasks which requires interacting with other functions within the organisation, such as the supply chain, and some communication with the customer. I am responsible for quality management systems, data evaluation and collating a business case and monitoring the project plan.
I have developed my digital skills significantly, especially with Microsoft packages and Jira/confluence. I have improved my communication skills both face to face and virtually. My leadership skills, and confidence in leading, has improved as I am given responsibilities which I want to implement successfully. I have regular reviews with a skills coach and line manager to ensure I am developing.
I really enjoy the programme as there is lots of opportunities to try new roles. Each year I change placement which helps me meet the competencies required from the programme. I have also had opportunity to go on secondment which has enabled me to work on an RAF base and live away from home. It's also great to be able to socialise with other apprentices
Very organised due to being 5 years and 5 different placements. I also have a review every 12 weeks with early careers to ensure I am meeting my competencies. I also attend uni every week which is supported by the company on occasion.
As mentioned above I feel supported from both early career stuff and placement staff. I know who I can reach out to if needed.
I have a weekly university session where there is opportunity to ask questions and to learn. There is also support available for assignment work separate to the lectures. Only issue is with it being a new provider, there are teething issues
There is definitely learning from university studies that can be carried into the role. Separate to the degree I have completed the APM PMQ which is a widely recognised qualification within the organisation
Yes there are a number of employee groups that employees can get involved with if they choose. Team social events are common with in some teams. I have attended a number of networking groups with apprentices, which is also helpful for understanding what other opportunities are available.
Yes
There are so many opportunities available in the organisation, both in the scheme and as a full time employee. The early career staff are very supportive and it is clear they want apprentices to perform well, as well as colleagues in our placement teams.
To research the companies values and products. To understand what your own strengths are and how they would be useful in a work place. Using the STAR interview technique.
