  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My main responsibilities as a Resourcing Assistant Apprentice are scheduling interviews, drafting offer paperwork, posting on job boards and assisting with any and all administrative tasks within our recruitment team. I also deal with ad-hoc queries and requests from both internal and external parties regarding anything to do with recruitment/processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed a lot of technical skills - I feel much more confident with systems I was already familiar with (e.g. Outlook, Excel etc) whilst also feeling confident with completely new systems, like our ATS eArcu. I have learnt an entire new website, it's features and benefits all within the space of 5 months, which I'm super proud of!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme. I certainly have days where I struggle and don't enjoy the programme as much as usual, but I appreciate there will be times like that. The work is enjoyable and I really get on with my team, whilst having a great support systems from everyone at AG. I like my apprenticeship work - it's challenging but in a really positive manner.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is very well structured - I have a clear, monthly plan of my aims/objectives as well as monthly webinars to enhance my learning. I have a great mentor who is always happy and willing to answer any questions and offer support, as well as my team always supporting me through my studies.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot! My employer and whole team all appreciate my work/study balance, and offer support when and wherever they can. I know I can ask my manager anything, and she will always try to help out or offer a resolution if I was to have an issue. I am very lucky at AG to receive so much support from many people, both within my team and in other teams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Similar to my employer, my training provider is super supportive throughout my studies. We have recurring catch-ups to discuss progress/achievements, and I know I can always drop anyone at Juice a message/an email, and they'll do everything they can to assist or offer support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it's really great. I came into this apprenticeship almost immediately after finishing year 13, and I think gaining the hands-on experience as well as a qualification gives me a solid foundation in my introduction to the world of working. I have picked up some solid tips from my apprenticeship as well as my day-to-day work, that I can reflect in the opposite when completing different tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is all sorts of extra-curricular to get involved with at AG. We have an AG Choir, a 5-a-side team, a cycling group and a Charity Committee, to name a few. Different offices run trips and events to places like York races and different shows/pantos in the area. We have inclusion groups, who celebrate diversity and achievements - for example, our OpenAG network. As well as social events and groups, we also have networking events - just this week, I am attending an agency event for our PSL agents to come along and meet some of the team, whilst finding out more about AG.
