My role is a project Analyst on the HOPJ account and HLS account. I manage candidates onboarding processes whether it's internal IBMers or contractors joining new projects. This role requires me to interact with many candidates daily as well as project managers on the accounts.
During my apprenticeship, I have gained many new skills and developed existing ones through daily tasks as well as giveback initiatives. I have improved my communication, teamwork, and project management skills while also enhancing my technical abilities, learning new tools and platforms, and advancing my Excel proficiency. Managing multiple tasks has strengthened my organisation and adaptability and all these skills have given me a stronger foundation for my career.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship as I feel I have a strong support system in place, with everyone being extremely helpful. I love the emphasis on learning and continuous self-improvement. I also enjoy attending events, as there are many other apprentices and communities to join, making it easy to connect with others and take part in exciting opportunities beyond my job role.
I find the programme very well structured and organised, with plenty of helpful resources and strong guidance from foundation and apprenticeship managers. Monthly check-ins provide a great opportunity to address any concerns and receive additional support. Group training days are also very beneficial, as they help us better understand our apprenticeship, with clear explanations of key topics..
We receive a lot of support from our employer through foundation managers, who provide guidance, and assigned buddies, who offer insights and tailored support based on their experience. Additionally, we are given a coach from our practice, who provides valuable career advice, helping us navigate our apprenticeship and future opportunities.
we have been provided with helpful resources that we can use when doing our apprentice work.
I feel that my qualification through my training provider is very helpful in improving my performance. It provides valuable knowledge and skills that I can apply directly to my role. The structured learning, combined with real-world experience, helps me develop a strong understanding of key concepts, making me more confident and effective in my work.
Yes, there are many different communities to get involved in at work, offering a variety of events. These include both fun as well as insightful events, both internally and externally. They provide great opportunities to network, learn, and socialise with many other apprentices not only from IBM but also different companies.
Yes
I would recommend IBM to a friend because it’s a very diverse and inclusive environment that offers excellent support systems. The focus on continuous learning and having a growth mindset is empowering, allowing you to develop both personally and professionally. There are also numerous opportunities to get involved in different projects and initiatives, making every day a chance to learn something new and challenge yourself.
When applying to IBM, my tips would be to showcase your willingness to learn and your ability to adapt. Highlight any experiences where you've demonstrated a growth mindset or taken on new challenges. Be clear about how you’ve worked with others and contributed to team efforts, as collaboration is key at IBM. During the application process, take your time to understand the role you're applying for, research IBM's values and culture, and be prepared to discuss how you align with them. Lastly, be authentic and passionate explaining why they should pick you, why you want the role and what you can bring to them!
