Catching up with team members, providing in hours support, writing code, assisting with testing, releasing code, planning future work, completing work-based uni work.
All the time, thrown into the deep end, but always in the best way. Getting to learn more and more every day´
All internal apprenticeship opportunities are very well organised. Communicated well and logically setup. Some external opporunities can be a bit ropey, espeically with the university
As much or as little as needed. But the second you ask for it, it is arranged and given to you
This is where is suffers, the uni are very bad at providing support, and they seem to not care about apprentices at all. Feels like an afterthought compared to regular undergrad students
There are not many elements where the qualificiation and job role overlap, but that is because the qualification is all theory. I have so many opportunities in work and the qualificiation is just out of date
I help run the apprentice community podcast, which is open to all staff in the BBC to listen to, and provides us completely autonomy to do what we want with it. There are plenty of other opportunites that i have got incolved in also, but not on a regular basis like the podcast
Yes
The support is amazing, the opportunities are never ending, a work life balance is possible, which is not common for apprenticesships, the company culture is very good in my opinion. Overall the support for apprentices is immense, and i do not want to leave at the end!
Be yourself, they are looking for a person, not a set of skills as you are going there to learn. Show how passionate you are about the role, and it will shine through. You do not have to be the smartest, just the one that they most would like to work with.
