My role is one of hospitality management, I lead and control a high performance team that works together to ensure a capture of daily and weekly sales under hospitality marker by offering service based and food based products to our guests. My daily tasks include control of forecasting, shift planning and running, it-based and floor based problem solving and opening and closing tasks that include purchasing, invoicing, stock reconciliation and other management level duties. I on the other side of things create a safe space to work where my guests and team can be themselves and leave feeling looked after and happy.
I have learnt many new skills on my apprenticeship programme and have also hones many skills that I have only every touched on briefly, doing this course has helped me grow in a environment where upskilling and training takes the backfoot so has really helped push me to be even better and become more than what i used to be.
I enjoy my programme lots, there are many things that are very different that produce a lot of fun and interesting activities, I have been able to meet new people and learn more than I normally would. It has a great way of capturing motivation and helping us use it to build upon ourselves
the structure from aptem is very organised and very well controlled. weekly catch-ups are scheduled far in advance and a online and in person learning plan has been available since the start with no changes and is closely monitored. the structure follows a good channel of development from beginning ideas to large and complicated business theory and helps carry you in a well thought out and structured manner. I just wish the restaurants received more attention on controlling rota and hours to complete the learning as sometimes I feel like they don't have the same motivation for me to complete. If they were were better supervised and watched they would help us more.
from my employer as a whole with wagamama, I receive a of of support. I have multiple channels of communication if I ever feel stuck or need help and know straight away where to go for these things as they have made sure to look after me and provide good communication, from my specific site the support is a little less with my own time management and own time being stressed more than it should to complete but they dos till help with certain tasks.
I receive large amounts of support from my training provider from aptem, extra work is coordinated and large amounts of catchup session are booked in to help grow my knowledge and expand my off the job hours. she contacts me to get weekly updates and chases things that I need help with. I have never not felt supported and love the way support is given from them.
I feel as if this many of the tasks and lots of the knowledge I have used helps me to be more confident in my role and also do provide me clarity and support in the small situations that arise at work. i think after completing it will hold more significance when i have progressed to higher levels.
we have a sports interest in my site, mainly with football so we all are interested in and enjoy meeting up to practise and play, they are not run by work though and just include work colleagues. But I do believe there are ones that are pushed by wagamama to take part in.
Yes
amazing company that pushes each person to be their best while providing the relevant support to achieve that goal, they provide competitive pay at team member level and really push quality to the highest form. I can say proudly its the best company I have ever worked for and I hold immense pride on how we do it.
Prepare your mindset over anything else, embrace the idea of change and continuous growth and you will go as far as you want, enjoy the journey to as it will truly always be something you remember positively. I had not even eaten wagamama before I applied so the passion and love for the food will come naturally in time.
