Accurately forecasting costs associated within a construction project, Procurement, Measurement, Design review etc.
I have been able to further develop measurement skills from foundations at college, communication skills back and fourth with Sub-Contractors and attention to detail when reviewing drawings for cost implications.
The programmed has been extremely beneficial to me as it allows me to work, along side studying in a balanced plan. I have always been a practical learned to the element of work has really assisted the academic side.
Programe is well structured as University weeks are booked out of your work diary and you are in Sheffield to attend University for the week. The workload can get overwhelming at times but with a structured plan it's no worse than attending a University or college.
Employer has provided lots of support through the onboarding process and also directing to the correct members of staff for University support.
The University has been very helpful. They have set up multiple drop in calls prior to the assignment hand-in date to ensure everyone is on track / an opportunity to ask questions. From my time at college we never got this opportunity.
To some extend the qualifications will help. They will allow us to develop a firm understanding of the foundations of Quantity Surveying. Having said that, I always believe the job is where you learn, and believe that for myself, I will always learn 10x more on job than off.
There are always social events and sports events available at my place of work. These are communicated through email. An example of one could be our 2024 Christmas night out.
