At the moment i am at my training provider full time - minus three weeks of work experience through out the year, i spend the day doing basic mechanical and electrical maintenance - on work experience i shadow the engineers to see what they do on a daily basis
i’ve learnt a wide variety of skills since starting, stuff i couldn’t have imagined how to do before, i know how to do basic electrical installation and maintenance, as well as mechanical work and maintenance
it is brilliant, definitely a great choice - it has enriched my life in so many ways
it’s very well organised, i always know what to do and expect, and if i’m unsure i know who to ask - the company complicates with me well
if i have any problems or struggles, howdens is very accommodating- if i ever need help i know who to go to and what i need to do
i receive excellent support - my instructors are very helpful, the explain everything well and know when to help you versus when to let you figure it out individually
they help give me experience and skills i need that will be crucial in my day-to-day life at work and social skills that will impact my life in general
there are occasions where i am able to do open evenings, helping to encourage more people to join engineerinh
Yes
it’s a great work environment, everyone is friendly, you receive brilliant support and it’s a lovely place to work
be confident, if you’re off into engineering maybe try to do a project before hand, as this may give you a bit of experience
