  • My role is a Crew Trainer - this is someone who trains new and current staff, ensuring staff are happy and feel comfortable on the stations they're on; someone to look up to on a crew level rather than manager

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship course itself - i have learnt new skills and more in-depth understanding on what it takes to help run a successful business from communication with customers to stock taking, complaints, food and safety/health.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the course as a whole - I ask alot of questions and have mostly the help i need in the store to answer questions provided. The lifetime and apprenticeship team as a whole are amazing; helping with the course and outside in general which is comforting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At my store, there is not much structure around the apprenticeship however through lifetime/ aptem and my learning coach, the structure and organisation is incredibly helpful from going through questions im unsure about to how go go about a question in an alternative route (crew trainer perspective)

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • (The store) : Before January, not a lot at all but since having a new business manager, I have seen an improvement in regards to apprenticeship work done in work - I would like to see more opportunities to shadow during shifts and be scheduled the time to do this

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As much as i need! from struggling to understand questions, to talking through them. This helps me to think more and word answers better, as I struggle to word answers and understand some terminology. All the support is there and i greatly appreciate it

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification, I am working towards, has given me a better understanding of what goes into the business, communication, financially and 'keeping a balance' - I feel I could work my way up to achieve more (management) it has also helped me to communicate better with crew and understanding the issues at hand; how to deal with them hand on

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do not but I feel i should; example being we have bake off competition and I highly enjoy baking. Alternatively we have charity events but I am usually working them days and football tournaments however Im not a fan of football, so it does not spark my interest.

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The team as a whole is like family. I work mostly days and evenings which are a change of atmosphere to mornings and nights (I used to work them but found i prefer shifts during the day and evening more enjoyable) You work a wide range of personalities, issues are resolved instantly, the business manager and management are all involved in the making of production (food making, drive thru, drink coordinating and customer service) which you don't find at many places. We have an pen door policy, so any issue inside or outside of work can be helped through people management and make you feel more comfortable at McDonalds. The apprenticeship team are wonderful, if you are thinking of doing an apprenticeship or further education during work (I struggled to do college and a maintain a job) whereas McDonalds give you the time to 'learn on the job' and work towards a bigger goal for yourself, which again yo may not find anywhere else.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Just be yourself and find what time of the day suits you as it ranges from mornings to late shifts - Mcdonalds are very good at working around you and the time you need from point A to B. McDonalds is not too much and not too little - theres always something to do and learn with the right people around you.
