  • Advising staff and trustees on stategy planning and charity governance. Ensuring compliance. Project work to enhance the relationship between national charity and branches

  • Yes, I have learnt more effective ways to manage both my time and others. I have gained skills in communication, delegation, conflict, negotiation, relationship building and project management

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed learning new skills and gaining confidence in what was a new role to me. I didn't enjoy the pace of the programme and thought it was a struggle towards the end to complete the required elements as well as my role responsibilities

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I felt that the pace of the programme could have been managed better. There was very little pressure at the start which built rapidly towards the end. If I had been aware of this I would have got ahead early on to prevent the high workload building up

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was very supportive, they gave me the opportunity to work outside of my normal duties to gain the experience and evidence required for the scheme. They also allowed me adequate time

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I had regular meetings with the tutor who provided coaching opportunities and encouragement. He did appear to be quite absent towards the end and there seem to be some confusion over who to contact

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have gained a lot of confidence in my current role by gaining the skills available through the programme. It has also allowed me the opportunity to apply for a more senior role

  • Yes but it is not something i am interested in doing

  • Yes

  • I can see the improvements made in the last few years and I do genuinely believe the intent is there to be a very supportive employer


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSPCA?
  • Be open to widening your skill set through secondment/promotion opportunities
