  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes the general supervision of my project, ensuring subcontractors are doing what they're supposed to be doing. I am responsible for all of the setting out on site and massively involved in the health and safety on site. I also work on various paperwork consistently on site.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned lots of skills that allow me to complete my job role effectively. I have learned lots of valuable information regarding health and safety. My supervision skills have improved a lot since i started working for BAM. Before i started working this job i knew nothing about all of the different health and safety documents required on a construction project.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy my programme, there are moments where i would hope the structure was slightly different. the length of the programme wasn't communicated very clearly at the start of the course.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised / structured. there are various different ways it could be structed and the learning time could be different however there is nothing wrong with the way they do it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive an ok amount of support. it massively depends on the project you are on day to day and the manager you are assigned too. some projects are way busier than others and there for sometimes there isn't much time for support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The college we attended are very good and are always checking in with us. however we are only at college for 6 odd weeks per year so it is harder to support us hundreds of miles way on site.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the qualification we are obtaining defiantly helps us preform at our roles. the information we learn at college directly related to the work we do on site for the most part.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes there are plenty of activities we can get involved in which are very helpful for our development.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • they are a big company with lots of resources and look after you very well with the support and compensation you receive. they have your best interest at heart and make sure you have everything you need.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • ask for everything you need. speak up and you'll go wherever you want. BAM is a big company who will look after your interests and try and mold the apprenticeship to suit your needs and expectations.
