In college daily learning theory about my job role, as well as taking part in hands on jobs in the workshop, learning new fabrication techniques and ways to make pipework to a specific specification and allowance.
I’ve learnt various new manufacturing and fabrication techniques within the workshop including, welding, brazing, soldering and using nuts and bolts to attach flanges together. Ive learnt new safety skills and practices also.
The programme so far has been okay, although the college environment is not my favourite. I feel some learning has been repetitive and some material taught feels irrelevant to our job role. Although teachers have tried there best to deliver good lessons.
The overall structure of my apprenticeship is very good I have had a plan for the next 3 and a half years laid out and know where I am with making progress.
The employer regularly visits within the college to try and keep us updated on how things are going within the company.
We get regularly scheduled interviews and talks with skills coaches and representatives from BAE. They tell us what we need to do to improve.
The qualification targets knowledge skills and behaviours, to overall focus on you performing better in your role.
I’m not aware of them if they do exist.
