  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my day-to-day role, I am actively involved in financial reporting for the organization, with a particular focus on analysing the costs incurred by the business. I examine trends and provide support for forecasting. Recently, I have had the opportunity to contribute to significant change and transformation projects, as well as explore the application of AI within the finance function.

  • Analytical, financial, forcasting, communication and public speaking, problem solving, project management. There are lots of skills that you have the opportunity to develop within the organsiation.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • One of the aspects I truly enjoy about the apprenticeship program is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting and cost analysis. This practical exposure has allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing my understanding and skills. Additionally, being involved in significant change and transformation projects has been incredibly rewarding. It has given me the chance to contribute to impactful initiatives and witness the positive outcomes of our efforts. Overall, the program has been a fantastic learning experience, offering a diverse range of opportunities to develop my skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure has really developed and grown over the year. There are now rotations available for new apprentices which wasnt the case when I started my apprenticeship. I have the ability to book my own exams and sit them at times that suit me but this also has changed to be more structured. The flexibility suited me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have changed roles after applying for the apprenticeship program. Each manager has been really supporting and the central apprenticeship team are always on hand with opportunity, support and to answer any questions

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Kaplan has been instrumental in providing comprehensive support throughout my apprenticeship program. They offer a range of resources and guidance to help me work towards my qualifications. This includes access to study materials, online courses, and regular check-ins with tutors who are always available to answer questions and provide feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification through Kaplan has significantly enhanced my ability to perform better in my role. The comprehensive curriculum and structured learning approach have provided me with a solid foundation in financial principles and practices. This theoretical knowledge, combined with the practical application encouraged by Lloyds, has allowed me to confidently tackle complex financial reporting and cost analysis tasks.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do a lot of volunteering at school talks. I also mentor other potential students who are looking for apprenticeships through an external platform. I also partner locally with the combined authority to deliver programs at schools and host schools at one of our offices. I am also involved in the apprenticeship committee here at LBG. I am also a member of the Kaplan shadow board which helps shape the apprenticeship offering the training provider provide.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend LBG due to the supportive and collaborative work environment. There organisation places a strong emphasis on professional development, offering numerous opportunities for learning and growth. LBG is constantly changing which provides a lot of opportunites for apprentices to get involved and really make a difference. The apprenticeship program encourages hands on experience.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • I would research the company to make sure your values align with that of the company. I would also encourage people to use all the resources available on the LBG webpage including reaching out and contacting a mentor. I would also make sure you think about what you want your career to look like and what department you want to work in before applying for a role.
