  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I cook food for customers at a greene king pub, making various meals and side dishes while maintaining the proper standards of cleaning and hygiene.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned to work as a team much more than before, and have gained the confidence to talk to people and be comfortable with my role as a chef. Also being able to ask my co workers with help or do assist me with tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like the masterclasses that i have gone to, they were a fun and new experience as i went to london, some of the online lesson were interesting too but some things can be tricky when also busy with work

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well, i get 1on1 reviews with my learning coach and always receive help if i need it. I'm also made aware of what i need to do/ my tasks, meetings and online lessons.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • If they have time then i am able to get the support i need, but it also comes down to me to make sure that they know i need support e.c.t some lessons require information from the manager.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots. My learning coach always helps me if I'm stuck on something and makes sure that I'm able to understand what I've learned. It's always very nice to talk to him and have a nice and relaxing discussion.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me learn more about what i need to keep aware of, such as different customer dietary needs, and reminds me more that it isn't just a job to me but more of a community

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are, such as poker, live band events and also people watching football but due to my age i can't really attend some of them besides saying hi to some people.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it's a nice place to get a head start in and see where you end up, the work can be tiring but when you try hard enough you can get more out of it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Be prepared to give more, as it's not just some job but more of a community you turn up to, to work with.
