  • I am in charge of the Cat and Miscellaneous areas at the centre and am tasked with their efficient running. I ensure the animals are given the behavioural and medical support they require and work with the staff to reach their goals.

  • I have learnt how to communicate better and to pay attention to the finer details in the background working in animal rescue.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am reminding myself of things I already know just through my job in the first place but I am also learning why we do what we do.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have a day in the week to work on the apprenticeship and once a month a have a session with my tutor as we work through our modules. She also visits me once every few months so we can work on the final assessment which is reassuring.

  • I get a working day in the week to complete apprenticeship work which is helpful.

  • It will give me a better understanding of why we do what we do and more ideas on what we can change to improve the centre for the animals and staff.

  • Training days for items I am involved in such as biosecurity, social activities outside work with colleagues and being part of a wellbeing network

  • You learn a lot on the job but also have opportunities to take part in different programmes to further your education and knowledge.
