I am in charge of the Cat and Miscellaneous areas at the centre and am tasked with their efficient running. I ensure the animals are given the behavioural and medical support they require and work with the staff to reach their goals.
I have learnt how to communicate better and to pay attention to the finer details in the background working in animal rescue.
I am reminding myself of things I already know just through my job in the first place but I am also learning why we do what we do.
I have a day in the week to work on the apprenticeship and once a month a have a session with my tutor as we work through our modules. She also visits me once every few months so we can work on the final assessment which is reassuring.
I get a working day in the week to complete apprenticeship work which is helpful.
It will give me a better understanding of why we do what we do and more ideas on what we can change to improve the centre for the animals and staff.
Training days for items I am involved in such as biosecurity, social activities outside work with colleagues and being part of a wellbeing network
