i had to learn the basics of hospitality business and the laws, consumer preferences, market changes that all play a key part in the business. i also had to learn management skills
i learnt loads of management skills and bar/kitchen skills
i received very little support from my management team and still do not despite me constantly asking for extra support in terms of hours, and training.
my tutors were helpful and gave me extra learning lessons for anything i struggled with
i now know more than some of the managers and are able to out perform them giving me opportunities to show my coworkers what i know to help build a stronger team
No
they’re is no actual support when you need help with extra hours, want to be shown new things. management sometimes doesn’t help team members but besides the mostly bad it’s a great way to build skills, meet people and get a sense of what a career in hospitality can be like
make sure that the individual pub is the best fit try to talk to people who work there and see what management is like because maybe it’s just where i work that it is this bad. for the apprenticeships the more you learn the easier the coarse gets even if it’s extra learning
