  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Training Material creation, mentoring, coaching, data analysis, feedback reviews, continuous development. Working along side internal and external stakeholders to understand the software knowledge gaps within the department and develop fun, engaging and future proof methods of resolving them not only for the current employees, but to ensure the success of future employees too.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Every day is a learning day, but if i was to focus on one area it would be management on stakeholders, keeping them up to date, understanding requirements and then showing the delivery of these requirements.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed it, strangely enough it helped me identify my strengths and what i enjoy doing and highlighted areas of the role that might not be suitable for me long term. All in a positive light though, without being able to experience it, i would have never known.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This could just be a preference thing, i prefer to be allowed to learn at my own pace and was given as much contact time as i wished to have with my mentor, meetings were made aware of well in advance (i believe at the start an expected schedule was provided) and 95% of these were on the dates expected and if not it was advised in advance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager could not have been more supportive, as a new dad during the early parts of the apprenticeship, i had all the support required from him, and even after when discussing future roles within the company he has helped me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Same here, my tutor was amazing, never missing a beat, identifying times when i'd not even suggested i was not myself, but she noticed and expressed that if i did need any further assistance she was available.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Yes, although the qualification has also helped me identify that my future isn't within that area, without this, I might not have identified my strengths and how i could use them in the business.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, I'm not much of a social butterfly myself, but there are many shared events and opportunities to network within and outside of the department.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Klipboard to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Career progression, isn't that why we're all here? They provided me with the opportunity to not only get a much better understanding on the new job role that I was going into, but then gave me the support to continue to use the management/operational side of the course that I had just been a part of to go down a career path that I am much stronger in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Klipboard?
  • Smile! and ask loads of questions. Preparation is the key to success and you only win or learn.
