My role on a day-to-day basis is a mix of meetings and hands-on work. I meet with various people to discuss project progress, challenges, and next steps. The rest of my time is spent working on those projects and handling day-to-day tasks to keep everything moving smoothly and on track.
I’ve developed stronger communication, presenting skills and project management skills through regular meetings with stakeholders. I’ve also improved my ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently, balancing both collaborative work and day-to-day tasks. I have improved my problem-solving abilities as well through these experiences. Every day is a learning opportunity.
I enjoy my program. Both the university course and the hands-on experience have been great, and the practical knowledge I gain from working on real projects adds a lot of value. The combination of learning and applying new skills has made the experience enjoyable and rewarding and everyday I learn something new.
The university side of the program is well-structured, with clear courses and timelines. However, at work the placement aspect could benefit from more formal organisation. I haven’t had a specific placement plan put in place, which has made it a bit more flexible but also less clear at times.
I receive lots of support from my home department, with reasonable off-the-job time to balance university and work effectively. I never feel hesitant to ask questions, as my team is always approachable, encouraging, and willing to help. This support has made it easier to manage both aspects of my role.
I receive good support from my training provider, with regular 1-1’s and clear guidance on my qualifications. They offer helpful resources and are always available to answer questions, ensuring I stay on track especially for my EPA. Their support makes it easier to balance my studies and work commitments effectively.
I feel that my qualification from the training provider helps me perform better in my role by allowing me to apply theory to practical workplace situations. The knowledge gained has enhanced my problem-solving skills and enables me to approach tasks more effectively, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
Yes, there are some internal extra-curricular activities at work, such as a charity team and an apprentice newsletter. However, there could be more extra-curricular activities like social and networking events. Participation often depends on the engagement of other apprentices, and when numbers are low, it can be challenging to get involved. It would be great to see more recognition and appreciation for those who contribute, as this could encourage more involvement from others.
Yes
Yes, I would recommend BMW Group to a friend. The work environment is supportive from my home department, and there are great opportunities for growth and development. While there could be more extra-curricular activities, the experience gained through hands-on projects and learning is valuable. It’s a great place for both professional and personal growth.
I would advise others applying to BMW Group to be proactive and eager to learn. Show genuine interest in the company’s values as this will help you stand out. Be prepared to balance both college/uni and work commitments, as time management is key. Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek support when needed.
