I am a retail supervisor in charge of maintaining and operating the club onsite, This is a cafe during the day and a bar at night. My role consists of making orders, Preforming safe checks, Rosters for staff and making sure we meet all EHO standards and Company standards.
Skills I have learnt; Management skill and ordering accurately and evaluating issues that need fixing using swot. An odd one but email etiquette learning how to construct an email correctly Skills I have developed would be; People skills- dealing with a wide range of customers means I talk to many different people. communication skills ties on with the previous skill.
My program is going well, The trainer is very friendly and easy to talk which makes it easier and she will always try and answer any questions. The course is challenging whilst not getting in the way of my day to day job allowing me to balance it very well.
The program that I am on is mainly me based so we work at my speed but whilst still having deadline, I have monthly meetings with my Trainer and then also have workshops to attend to build on the work we do
M employer asks for updates and will always check that I have everything I need, Both my Line manager and GM are amazing constantly making me feel well supported. My GM has mentioned that he is always just an email or call away if support is needed whilst my line manager will see me daily anyway.
My Training provider is always just an email away, I see them once a month for a 2 hour meeting to see where I am at and what we will do next. They have a login page as well where I can drop a message to my trainer when needed.
There are still bits I am learning as it is still early days in my qualification, I feel like it has helped me develop better plans and methods for my unit and with the support I get I can imagine it will only get better.
we have a social event at Christmas but other than that there is not much, I am a member of the institute of hospitality because of my apprenticeship but nothing provided by my employer that I have been able to find. I am trying to get more events with staff.
Yes
The work ethic of the staff is unbeaten by most with some places lacking good ethic, people are motivated and the support from my Gm is outstanding.
You will have to search for the opportunities they don't come to you. If you put the effort in it shows but if you do not put any in that shows more
