Currently based at college in my first year, college is where we learn the basics of being an electrician. Once we leave college and are onto the actual site we will be doing more things around our actual job role.
I have developed my knowledge with electrical work as I have already done a lot of the things within the college. I have been able to grasp a better understanding within the area tho. I have developed my communication skills during my time as I have had to sleek to new people
I enjoy my programme a lot as it has came with a lot of benefits and taught me plenty of new things. It has also made me realise how important work actually is and how beneficial it will be to me in the future.
It is well organised to some extent as they have everything in place and ready for everyone. However unexpected events can occur causing us to fall behind but they are unpredictable and rare.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, if I ever have any questions about what is next for working my programme or anything like that I know I can go and ask and that they will have the answers to my question. They also keep us updated with everything that is going on.
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider, however sometimes they don’t have the staff to support our needs. When they have the staff and things then they are good at providing the support needed to work towards qualifications.
The qualification through my training provider helps me within my role because it tells me nearly everything I need to know about electrical work and all of the health and safety regulations.
We did an outward bound experience where we went and stayed in the lakes for 5 days doing many team building activities and getting people out of their comfort zones. There is also things like the apprentice council where apprentices can talk about things to do with the apprenticeship. There is STEM activities that we can participate in.

BAE is an outstanding business that helps its apprentices to reach their full potential. BAE helps people with getting out their comfort zones and helping out within the community. They allow shifts which gives workers a 20% extra pay which benefits people massively and they also allow overtime.
Make sure that you research the company and find out about what they do and what the role you are applying to is. Research the behaviours that BAE are based on and the rules that they follow.
