I am an apprentice and my main role currently is reading fire strategies and understanding British Standards
I have an easier understanding of fire safety
Because engineering involves a lot of math I don't really enjoy the math aspect but the fire safety aspect is interesting
The university doesn't really cater to the apprentices so a lot of my uni apprentices are left in the dark
With my first line manager I was receiving a lot of support and it was nice but I have a new line manager and I'm left on my own a little bit now
I receive a bit of support but now as I've been in the apprenticeship for a bit I'm receiving a little less support
I am able to understand engineering and fire safety and I am a bit better in speaking about my role
We have charity days and social work events for different holidays
No
It is pretty hard to gain an apprenticeship with the company and it is very competitive
Be confident, be yourself and ask questions
