I am in the process of developing into a fully trained and able mechanical technician; my day to day training involves copious amounts of work on Heysham power station
I have leart a vast amount of new skills and techniques from working with experienced and highly skilled craftsmen, as well as this I have also completed training on HMS Sultan to give me the basic foundation of knowledge which I require
I do enjoy my day to day working life for many reasons, one of which is that I have the opportunity to try my hand at different activities and experiences every day
I feel valued and appreciated by the company as a whole as they are open to consulatation with me and all other employees who may have queries or developed grevencies
Well structued as we were given a clear and consise timetable for each of our four years on the apprentice scheme both in portsmouth and on station
I have a difference of opinion on this matter, in the first two years of my apprenticeship while in portsmouth we were in training with Babcock international who provided adequete yet not substantial training however when back on station edf have provided me with excellent training and enhanced my knowledge greatly
I receive great support from the company aS I know that any queries or issues I may have can always be shared with a memeber of staff in order to resolve the issue
Because I still live with my parents my costs are considerably more than other members of the apprenticeship who are more senior with there own homes therefore for a person in my position the salary is sufficient
Yes, in my first two years while on naval bases in portsmouth edf provided all apprentices with a number of free activiies such as gym membership and karate lessons
Yes
Because edf is a company in which there is a great opportunity to grow, both in a professional and personal capacity and is also an enjoyable place to work
Before applying ensure you have basic knowledge of the nuclear industry and a grasp of how edf produces electricity through nuclear means
