Within IBM I work within Consulting. I am apart of helping businesses develop and I am within the technical area as a Tester. Currently I am on a project working for HMRC. Within this project I am doing performance testing. Currently apart of the PVT team where I execute and analyse performance tests.
I have developed my technical proficiency working with different testing tools and databases. I have also developed on my communication and reporting skills as that is a major part of my role. I would also say my problem solving and my attention to detail has improved during my apprenticeship.
I enjoy working at IBM i believe the work culture from the beginning was very warm and welcoming. I came from a background having no I.T experience and i have enjoyed the journey IBM has taken on pushing me to learn and take on challenges within my role which has aided me to completing my apprenticeship.
My apprenticeship journey was very organised i had the support from managers and other senior members who all helped keep me on track at various points throughout my apprenticeship. Also my education Provider Firebrand had a very structured approach to me getting through my apprenticeship,
I have had support throughout my time at IBM from my regular drop in meetings with my foundation manager and also with my team lead on my project. I was also paired up with a buddy who had been an apprentice prior to me starting. I felt this was very beneficial for me as it helped me address any worries or concerns i had.
I had a lot of support from firebrand. I was assigned a mentor who directed me through my apprenticeship journey. I had regular meetings with my mentor which i believe helped me stay on track.
I believe with me getting my Level 4 Software tester qualification it has given me more confidence within my team and i believe i have improved my knowledge and technical skills which has helped me become more influential within my team.
There are many different communities which IBM have which was one of the first things i noticed when joining. I joined the Foundation Well-being Athletes the IBM athletes Network and the Black BRG. All of which has held social networking events.
