Day to day I work as a presales technical specialist in the Storage brand for IBM. I interact with customers and provide a technical overview of the products that they are interested in.
Over the course of my apprenticeship I've massively developed my presentation skills and also developed my technical understanding of many different technologies. Another skill I have developed is inter-personal, working with customers and experienced employees daily has definitely helped me improve.
I enjoy to a good extent - definitely room for improvement but overall a good experience.
From a university point of view - well structured with the courses outlined in a calendar document. From a company point of view there was no structure whatsoever - my managers didn't really know what to do with me.
When I ask, I receive - the foundation managers provide a very useful service but from my task manager there definitely could have been more available although i believe my task manager also didn't recieve a lot of support.
There is consistent support from my training provider - we have catchups every 6 weeks to discuss the course I completed and then any issues I might have. All my professors and success managers and available via email also
Not at all - my role is very customer and sales based whereas the qualification is much more focussed to a consulting and project based role.
Yep, lots apprentice & intern run events - I also get the opportunity to go to professional networking events and storage led events.
